Welcome to Wayne-Westland!
Thank you for visiting the website of Wayne-Westland Community Schools. Wayne-Westland was recently featured on Channel 7, WXYZ-TV as one of “The Best Schools in Michigan”. Our entire staff is committed to providing the very best educational opportunities to the 12,600 students we serve from Wayne, Westland, Canton, Dearborn Heights, Inkster and Romulus. The district promotes high expectations for success and provides students with a safe, caring and nurturing environment. Wayne-Westland helps students develop the character, confidence and values they need to become productive citizens in a global marketplace. I am proud to be part of a long standing tradition of loyalty, educational excellence and devotion to a district that holds such precious memories for so many people.
The dynamic learning environment throughout the school district illustrates that when a school and community work together, extraordinary results occur. All of our schools are accredited by the prestigious North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement. Wayne-Westland offers award winning, innovative scholastic programs to assure every student a high quality education and a jump start on college. We are especially proud of our 14 Golden Apple Award winning schools and our two Michigan Blue Ribbon Exemplary School Award winners. Our outstanding teachers are highly qualified and appropriately certified to educate your children.
Our premier facilities are “state-of-the-art” and provide an educational environment where teachers love to teach and students love to learn. Our progressive educational programs are rigorous, challenging and prepare students to compete in a global economy. Wayne-Westland residents have overwhelmingly supported our schools by passing a $108 million Bond issue in 1998, a $30 million “Sinking Fund” in 2003 and a $27 million “Sinking Fund” in 2012. This support has transformed all of our buildings into 21st Century Schools which sustains educational excellence.
